PE and Sports Premium

Since 2013, the Government has provided schools with funding to be able to make long-term improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activities they provide for their pupils.  Schools are able to decide how they spend this money but attention must be paid in particular to ensuring that it is used to be able to provide a diverse range of opportunities for pupils and staff as well as making sure that the changes are sustainable.

The main key indicators schools are encouraged to be aware of are:

  1. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  2. Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  3. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport.
